Competition – Top 9 Ugliest Animals in the World
To draw attention to unloved species, the president of the Ugly Animal Preservation Society launched a campaign to elect a mascot. Here’s a picture of the top nine winners from the public vote.
9 / the Komodo dragon, a giant lizard measuring 2 to 3 meters.

8/ The Madagascar lemur

7/ The ouakaris

6/ the purple frog

5/ The Nasic

Both the male and the female have a very large nose. In the former, this organ reaches such proportions that it can descend below the chin.
And the longer the snout, the more likely it is to attract females!
4/ the frog of Lake Titicaca

This amphibian only lives in this lake.
3/ The axolotl

It is a species of urodele that has the ability to remain in the larval state for its entire life without ever metamorphosing into an adult.
2/ The kakapo

It is the only flightless parrot in the world. This heavy bird lives in New Zealand and is endangered. Only 126 of these birds were known to exist in the wild in 2012.
1/ The blobfish, the ugliest animal in the world

This bizarre creature lives off the southeastern coasts of Australia and Tasmania, living at depths where the pressure is 60 to 150 times greater than at the surface.
To resist this, its flesh is mainly made up of a gelatinous mass whose density is lower than that of water, which allows it to float without having to expend too much energy.
In its natural environment under very high pressure, this aquatic animal looks like an ordinary fish, but when brought to the surface it decomposes and becomes the one seen in the image above.
The blobfich has just been awarded the unofficial title of world’s ugliest animal on Thursday, September 12, 2013, as part of the British Science Festival in Newcastle.
He became the official mascot of the Ugly Animal Preservation Society, which works to protect these generally unloved animals.
” I have nothing against pandas, but they have their protectors. Usually only cute animals are preserved ,”
“The blobfich has overtaken its rivals with more than 10,000 votes,” Simon Watt , chairman of the British association, told the BBC .
Now it’s time to discover the other animals that deserve to compete with the previous ranking. These are the ugliest animals in the world.
The ugliest animals in the world
The marabout

Yes, you heard correctly. This time it’s not a human being, it’s the name of a very large bird, 100 to 150 cm long with a wingspan of 210 to 250 cm. Marabou storks are gregarious animals, nesting in colonies in humid regions and building large twig nests in trees.
The frogfish

It is a small fish with a globular, extensible body, with flabby skin covered with small spines.
Desert warthog or Phacochoerus aethiopicus

The picture says it all
The stellate condylure

The Star Mole (Condylura cristata) is a small and unique species of North American mole.
Ogre fish or fang fish
This fish lives at a depth of almost 5,000 m and has proportionally the largest teeth in the world, so much so that it cannot even close its jaw.
Viper fish
This is a fish that lives at the same depth as the hooked fish.
The Naked Mole Rat

No!!!! This rat is alive and well. 2. No one has removed its fur. It is naturally designed this way and is the only species of its kind.
Despite its appearance as a rat from a laboratory experiment gone wrong, this small rodent from East Africa is remarkable in several ways.
It surprises with its social organization, its limited temperature regulation, its reproductive capacity, its resistance to diseases (cancers, etc.) and its longevity, which can exceed 30 years in captivity.
Wolffish
The Scotoplanes or sea pig

This species of sea cucumber lives at depths of over 6,000 m. They are often found in groups around 9,500 m.
The Pyrenean desman

The Pyrenean desman is a semi-aquatic insectivorous mammal. It is a nocturnal animal found in the Pyrenees and northern Spain and Portugal.
The uranoscope

The uranoscope fish is more terrifying than its appearance. It likes to burrow into the ground to wait for its prey. It has poisonous spines for defense. Some species send out 50-volt electric shocks to scare off predators.
The tardigrade

The tardigrade is a very strange microscopic animal. It lives in water and very humid places. This animal, also nicknamed the water bear, can easily be the most powerful animal on the planet in terms of survival.
It is said that in several apocalyptic cataclysms that could wipe out all living beings on the planet, only the tardigrade could survive.
Many experiments have been conducted to test the animal’s ability to survive, from boiling water to freezing at -200 degrees or near absolute zero.
The tardigrade comes back to life. Some experiments even go so far as to send this animal into space or shoot it with a pistol. The tardigrade comes out alive.
Its secret to survival is its ability to completely dehydrate itself, forming a barrel-like structure that protects its vital organs. Tardigrades over 100 years old have been found in this state, only to return to life once the right environmental conditions are met.
This animal is fascinating enough to deserve a separate article!!
