Anime about gang wars, betrayals, and the mafia world are usually your best.

If your answer is NO, then you are not alone. I also don’t like anime whose main theme is related to gangster life.

If I see it, it’s because I didn’t know the genre in the first place. And if the anime is good, the genre doesn’t matter.

The same thing happened to me while watching the anime The Fable. I was initially drawn to it by the positive reviews and the fact that it’s rarely talked about.

I’ve never been attracted to gang anime, let alone mafia anime, but The Fable is an exception to the rule. The main character, although strange, quickly becomes endearing.

This anime, both funny and mature, knows how to introduce you to the ruthless world of gangs in many ways through its story.

Anime doesn’t promote violence and action just for the sake of it. Events flow, and violence only appears when absolutely necessary.

The Fable is about the life of a hitman who must try to live normally for a year in an environment where violence is omnipresent.

The Fable synopsis

Equipped with his favorite weapon, an anthracite Nighthawk pistol, “Fable” is a professional killer feared by the entire Japanese underworld, politicians, mafiosi and public figures.

This assassination genius can send any of his targets six feet under in six seconds, if he so desires.

One day, his godfather orders him to drop everything and lead the life of an ordinary citizen, in the lair of a yakuza clan in Osaka, with a ban on killing or attacking anyone for an entire year.

For this unpredictable human weapon, surrounded by trigger-happy criminals, the most difficult contract begins.
