The anime has officially been in production since March 2025 according to the official website anime.shangrilafrontier.com (in Japanese).

Which chapter should I start with after season 2 of the Shangri-La Frontier anime?

Shangri-La Frontier is a Japanese web novel written by Katarina. Its manga adaptation by the same author and drawn by Fuji Ryosuke earned it the title of best shonen manga of the year at the 47th Kodansha Awards.

I think adapting the web novel into a manga rather than a light novel was a good decision. Another good news is that the reference work is already finished.

Many readers of the web novel have stated that the original work is indeed concluded, so there is no reason for the manga to stop mid-stream and for the anime seasons not to continue.

If you want to continue the anime from season 2, start the manga with chapter 127 .

Shangri-La Frontier synopsis

Shangri-La Frontier follows Rakuro Hizutome, a gamer who enjoys beating the worst, buggy (“turd”) video games under his alias Sunraku.

After completing a particularly challenging game, his game store owner recommends he try Shangri-La Frontier, a popular virtual reality (VR) game.

Sunraku enters with his eagle-masked avatar, and discovers that all the skills he’s learned from playing imperfect games prove surprisingly useful in this gaming world with 30 million registered players.
