India since last month has embarked on a severe policy of deleting applications of Chinese origin on its territory. Among the deleted apps is one of the most popular video social networks Tiktok.
The government of India announced the blocking of 59 applications because they would be "engaged in activities ... prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India". When we look at the list of the 59 banned applications, we notice that they are all of Chinese origin. The government never publicly mentioned that it would target China, but that remark was enough to heat the Internet.
One of the reasons Indian Internet users might react negatively against government actions may be that most of the banned applications are heavily used in India. This is the case of TikTok which is used by 600 million Indians.

Why these deletions of applications from the India playstore
The reasons for this action by the Government of India are said to be essentially political. India suspects China of spying by collecting personal data from its neighbor via the most downloaded applications.
Voltage which is developing between India and China is not new. We must take into account a recent event. Exchanges of fire between the Chinese and Indian soldiers on the border and India, which is demanding justice to compensate the families of the victims.
As of this writing, the United States of America, Japan and Pakistan are interested in ways to limit the use of the TikTok app. This interest could go as far as its total suppression in their countries.
In this battle we seem to be beating TikTok, to defend ourselves, its spokesperson said ” TikTok is led by an American CEO, with hundreds of employees and key executives in safety, security, product and public policy here in the United States,… We have never provided any user data to the Chinese government, and we also wouldn't if asked".
Conclusion
It appears that the Trump administration has been successful in convincing other countries to restrict China's actions in their countries. While many have not acted in a strong manner like India and the United States, doubts and suspicions about Beijing's processing of personal data are hovering.
