GOD OF WAR PC Review

I've played several God of War games in the past and each game in the franchise has never ceased to amaze me with the gore and violence of the Ghost of Sparta.

I recently played the PC version of God of war 4 and this game surprised me a lot both on the direction and on the story. We explore the personality of Kratos, Norse history and legends without getting bored.

In this post I will try to go into the details without spoiling you. Just to discover the game for yourself.

The trailer

Before playing God of war 4

Basically, I didn't like the idea that Kratos was accompanied by a son. It bothered the image I had of an angry person who alone will face all the legendary mythological monsters and then smash the gods.

In less than 15 minutes of play, I was totally won over by the new design and the new Kratos who seems to have started all over again.

god of war pc gameplay

What can we say about the gameplay already? You will never guess all that can be done in the game with a simple axe.

If the opponents in general help you to let off steam and let go, most are quite difficult to beat on the first try. It would take strategy and sometimes a well-developed weapon.

What's even cooler is that the game doesn't let you get bored during the trip. You are treated to interesting discussions between Kratos and his son. Sometimes these are stories of every character in Norse legend.

Each non-playable character (npc) you meet in the game is very endearing. Sometimes I sail and roam the waters just to listen to the end of the discussions.

The development of the personality of the son of Kratos during the adventure is really successful. Atreus at the start is no longer the same Atreus that you will find at the end.

This game is rich in every sense of the word, not to mention the fights which are sometimes exhilarating and the puzzles very addictive.

The only downside that I can cite in the gameplay is that most of the puzzles to be solved require that you have a sense and a precise knowledge of the temperate seasons.

Some puzzles revolve around autumn, summer etc. etc whereas Africa our seasons have different names.

All of this is small compared to the fun and surprise of seeing Kratos deliver some very relevant life lessons that make you stop the game for a moment to ponder it.

The Kratos we knew was not talkative. In this game he remained quiet and accidentally funny.

music god of war pc

The music is very consistent with the new universes of the Games. I'm used to the previous God of War, action battle music with some touches of drama.

In the latter everything starts slowly. Over the course of the adventure things will intensify constantly. Stress assured.

Replayability

After the story part there are always new worlds to explore, people to defeat and keys to collect.

Some puzzles still remain to be solved. I continue on this path hoping to find crisp elements on the problem of the valkyrie.

It is also possible after finishing the story mode to resume it with the weapons and your level unchanged.

I find it really very superb because sometimes we want to resume the story with more challenges to test our equipment.

It would still suck to play again being a little too strong for the universe around us.

god of war 4 universe

Everything now takes place in the North mythology. The God of war of Greek mythology completed.

The universe is particularly cold and everything is frozen. VYou will rarely find hot spots like in previous God of War games.

Fortunately, we are not in the environment to feel the temperature.

Control

Another negative point that I found on this game. I had problems configuring my PC controller.

I don't know if this will apply to all controllers but with mine, I had problems with character control.

Worst on the menu, I couldn't change this control. For example, when you want to bring the crosshair up, you have to turn the right stick to the left. And when you want to look down, the right stick has to go to the right.

I was forced to play with this control until the end. The beginning was really very painful.

I guess everything would be much easier if I had used keyboard and mouse.

Should we play all previous god of war before God of War 4?

It is true that playing the first God of War will deepen the experience with GOW 4 but you do not have to complete them all.

Start God of war PC and then playing the previous versions of the franchise will not spoil anything. It will be another experience for you.

So you can start with the PC version and then play the previous one to get an idea.
