Hell’s Paradise : Jigokuraku anime

The story takes place in the 11th century, in Japan. Gabimaru, “The Void”, the most famous and powerful of the ninja-assassins has been captured and languishes in prison.

Claiming to have no reason to live anymore, he desperately waits for an executioner to succeed in taking his life because his superhuman training allows him to resist the worst punishments.

It is then that he receives a visit from an executioner like no other: a powerful saber wielder and head cutter. After a fierce fight from which he narrowly escapes, she pushes him into his entrenchments.

In exchange for his life, she offers him a deal: he will have to go to a mysterious island to recover an elixir of immortality. The only problem: everyone who has gone to this island has come back cut into pieces…
