To watch Made in abyss, there are two possible ways that I noticed. Follow the chronological order of the series or the chronological order of the movies.
The reason is that the first two made in abyss movies cover the first season of the anime.

Anime Made in Abyss – synopsis

A little orphan girl named Riko lives in the city of Orth on the edge of the Abyss. Her dream is to become a Deeper like her mother and solve the mysteries of the cave system.
One day, Riko begins exploring the caves and discovers a robot that looks like a human boy.
Tempted by the mysteries of the Abyss, Riko and her new friend descend into uncharted territory to unravel its mysteries, but what awaits them in the darkness?
